Ethnic Serbs in Kosovo

Since 1999, the town of Mitrovica in Kosovo has been divided between an ethnic Serb dominated North administered by Belgrade and a largely Albanian south run from Pristina. Although last weekend's repeat local elections in north Mitrovica passed off largely without incident, life in north Kosovo is far from secure, as Peter Geoghegan has been finding out.
