These classic shoes were invented back in the 14th century but it wasn't until the 50s and 60's that style icons brought them into the public eye. The soles of these shoes are made from jute rope or other plant fibres and are now back in demand. We visit the Castañer Company which has been producing espadrilles since 1927.
