More than 30 people wounded in the civil war in Syria have been evacuated from the country by the German military, the Bundeswehr. The wounded are here for medical treatment, and are patients at German military hospitals such as the Bundeswehrkrankenhaus Westerstede in Lower Saxony. Their physical wounds are healing, but the psychological scars of their ordeal remain.
