Dortmund loan out Immobile

Both Borussia Dortmund and Sevilla have confirmed that Immobile will join the Spanish side on loan for the 2015-16. The deal, which is subject to the striker passing a medical exam, includes the option to purchase the Italian forward for a fee of 10 million euros.

The 25-year-old joined Dortmund at the beginning of the previous season after he scored 22 goals in 32 matches for Italian club Torino and led Serie A in scoring. Borussia hoped that he would be able to replace Robert Lewandowski, but the six-foot Italian never found his rhythm in the Bundesliga. He finished the 2014-15 campaign with only three goals and was almost exclusively relegated to a substitute's role in the second half of the season.

He was more effective in the Champions League, starting five games and scoring four goals in six matches.

Dortmund, who paid 18.5 million euros for Immobile, had been looking to recoup at least 15 million of their investment. Sevilla are reportedly paying a three-million-loan fee for the striker. Immobile has four years left on his Dortmund deal, but the consensus among black-and-yellow fans is that they've seen the last of him in Signal Iduna Park.

There was no immediate word of whether Dortmund would invest in a replacement striker or whom they might be targeting. As it stands, Dortmund would begin the coming season with only Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and injured Adrian Ramos up front.
