Customers wanting to buy tickets for Germany’s national railways Deutsche Bahn may soon have to wait longer in line. That’s because Deutsche Bahn plans to cut the number of personnel at its train station service centers by 1,000 by the end of 2005. Bahn board member Jürgen Büchy on Friday confirmed media reports that the railway operator also wants to trim its train personnel by 2,000. Despite the job cuts, Deutsche Bahn still hopes to improve service by using a new computer system that will speed up the purchase of tickets.
