Bundesliga Matchday 6 in Pictures
Robert Lewandowski is the man of the moment in the Bundesliga. Yet there were great moments from Vedad Ibisevic, newly-promoted SV Darmstadt, Hamburg and Borussia Mönchengladbach
Darmstadt back on track
Having faced the wrath of Bayern Munich and only left with some minor scratches, Darmstadt welcomed Werder Bremen on Tuesday hoping to get back on track. Aaron Johannsson's early strike for the visitors was the worst start, but a brace from Sandro Wagner - signed from Hertha Berlin in the summer - turned the game around and takes Darmstadt into tenth.
The Lewandowski show
It's often up to substitutes to come off the bench and win a team games in the final minutes. But on Tuesday night at the Allianz Arena, Robert Lewandowski entered a game and made it his own in nine incredible minutes. Five goals in that short time - a Bundesliga record - secured Bayern its most remarkable victory in recent years.
Ibisevic at the double
It was a special night for Vedad Ibisevic at the Olympiastadion in Berlin. The striker, brought in from Stuttgart, is one of the Bundesliga's best ever goalscorers, but hadn't found the net in over 24 games before this evening. His two strikes earned his new club its first home win of the season against a Cologne side still bouncing after a derby win over Gladbach.
Hamburg leave it late
It was a late win for Hamburg against newly promoted Ingolstadt on Tuesday night. The scrappy affair perhaps didn't deserve a winner, but Michael Gregoritsch was not interested in sharing the points. His 87th minute winner takes Hamburg up to the dizzy heights of sixth, whilst Ingolstadt are secure in eighth.
Points finally come home for Gladbach
It took its time, but Borussia Mönchengladbach finally sealed its first points of the Bundesliga season on Wednesday night. Four goals in 21 first-half minutes gave the Foals a remarkable lead, before two Paul Verhaegh penalties made the home fans nervous before the final whistle. A great start to life as the head coach for Andre Schubert.
Hannover struggling as Stuttgart triumph
It was a real six-pointer at the HDI-Arena on Wednesday night, as Hannover faced fellow strugglers Stuttgart. Three goals in the space of four minutes turned the game on its head after Hannover had taken the lead. A late Alexandru Maxim strike confirmed Stuttgart its first win of the season, while sending Hannover to the bottom of the Bundesliga.
Chicharito sends Leverkusen wild
With his first goal in the Bundesliga, Javier 'Chicharito' Hernandez earned Bayer Leverkusen a deserved win over Mainz on Wednesday night. The Mexican's superb run was given a helping hand at the end, as his shot deflected past Loris Karius off Hakan Calhanoglu. The win takes Roger Schmidt's side up to 11th.
Schalke on form in win over Frankfurt
It's three wins in a row now for Andre Breitenreiter's Royal Blues after another solid win over Eintracht Frankfurt. The goals didn't come until the second-half, but Joel Matip's Header and a solo-effort from Leroy Sane were worth the wait. Schalke now sit third in the Bundesliga, whilst Armin Veh's Eagles drop to 12th.
All even in Hoffenheim
It was an entertaining draw in Sinsheim on Wednesday night, with Sebastain Rudy and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang the goalscorers. Rudy's first-half effort shoud have been double in the second-half, but Eduardo Vargas could only hit the post with a chip. Aubameyang scored in his eight consecutive Bundesliga game to earn Dortmund a draw and keep BVB unbeaten this season.
