Project goal: Researching biodiversity

Project scale: The scientists are studying an area of 18,000 hectares

Rainforests are key to healthy global climates. How exactly does the rainforest ecosystem work? How do forests capture carbon? To what extent does biodiversity contribute to their survival? Conservation International commissioned a team of scientists to look into these questions and many others. Using Conservation International's Rapid Assessment Program, the researchers are examining flora and fauna in Suriname, South America.
