A musical forest in France yields its secrets

In the Jura Mountains, stretching from France to Switzerland, there are men who can look at a tree and tell you if there's a violin inside. Stradivarius took wood from here. The Risoud Forest, situated in those mountains, contains ancient spruce trees that provide tonewood, as it's called, which is prized by musical instrument makers. John Laurenson has been exploring this most musical of forests.
