The recent slew of natural disasters has taken its toll on European insurers. The world's largest reinsurance company, Munich Re, estimates that between January and June of this year--a total of 440 disasters such as storms, floods or earthquakes caused some 53-Bbillion euros in damages. And that doesn't include the most recent flooding on the German-Polish border.
