With war raging in the Middle East, the arms industry is booming. Robot soldiers are being developed and nuclear weapons are being modernized. Every two years, arms dealers showcase their products in Abu Dhabi.

Arms producers from all around the world are doing good business: drones are much sought after these days. Says one exhibitor: "It’s like a computer game, really simple. You push the button and shots are fired.” Buyers are also keen on the latest in surveillance systems. Robot soldiers are being developed and even nuclear weapons are being modernized. Iraq is one theater of war: it has been ravaged by conflict more than almost any other country in the past 35 years. To this day weapons and munitions are destroying the lives of people there. Newborn children and the environment are among the worst affected victims. Depleted uranium munitions fired in large quantities in Afghanistan, Iraq and the former Yugoslavia have turned out to be particularly harmful.
