Stephan Madre, Thailand: Hot Pot
'Hot Pot' is a popular dish in Thailand. A specially-designed cooking pot is placed over a charcoal fire. Meat is placed on a raised grill, while vegetables bubble away in a broth bowl below. A terrific meal, especially for a group a friends!

Seema's Favourit Snack: "Chhole Kulche"
"Chhole Kulche " is a dish from north india, that is loved by all generations and very quick to make and eat. "Chhole Kulche " is made without oil and is therefore as light as a feather. Seema thinks it is a pleasure to eat the meal right next to the huts beside a busy road, along with other hungry souls.
Nutan´s snack from India is called "Kanawla"
Nutan has sent us this dish. It's called "Kanawla" and is very well known in a community in the Indian state of Maharashtra. "Kanawla" is especially prepared during the "Diwali" festival - the festival of lights. The basic ingredients are rava (suji), milk, dessicated coconut, sugar, dry-fruits, wheat flour, poppy seeds, ghee, sweet rose petals and water.

Markus Tiemann's favorite snack are chinese noodles with pork from a canteen in a steel mill located in the north of China.

Muhammad Shamin from India sent us his favourite Snack: "Kaipola". It's made of eggs, Bananas, Ghee and Sugar.
Lutz Danner from Nassau, Bahamas: "conch salad"
Lutz Danner reports that the native cuisine of the Bahamas is very unusual. Bahamians eat at least once a week "conch salad", consisting of a large snail, the "conch". The snail has to be cut out from the body housing, then cut into small pieces and get mixed with tomato, celery, onions and cucumber. In addition, they put fresh orange juice, lime juice, salt and hot pepper on top of it.
Mauricio Labrador Garcia, Ecuador: "Verdes"
Mauricio visited the Otavalo´s market in Ecuador and met Celinda, who sells croquettes made of cooked yucca or plantain. This Snack is called "verdes". Celinda fries or roasts the douhg-balls in a frying pan. Mauricio finds it very delicious. In other parts of Ecuador these croquettes are filled with chopped onions, meat, parsley, cheese and other tasty ingredients.
Naeem Safi from Lahore, Pakistan: Kulcha
"Kulcha" is one of the traditional staple breads. Unique: "Kulcha" is special because it is made by only one baker in the country of 180 million inhabitants. It is made with flour raised with yeast for 24 hours, and then baked in a clay oven. It is loved by the inhabitants of Lahore for its strong sour taste. It is served with spiced potatoes, fresh onions, green chili, and mix vegetable pickle.

Norah Al Arabi, Freiburg: Fried cheese rolls
This snack is called "fried cheese rolls" made from Flamenkuchen-Dough. The dough is ready to buy from the supermarket. You cut the dough into squares and fill it with a mixture of feta cheese and dried oregano. Then roll the dough like fingers and fry them in oil. Very tasty! Sonia Barranco, Tenerife: Butifarras
This is the favorite snack of Sonia Barranco from Tenerife (Canary Islands), called Butifarras. Butifarras is smoked meat from cows and pigs. It is seasoned with pepper and inserted into cleaned intestines. Sonia Barranco heard that this snack is the secret to stay fit and healthy in old age.

This Snack comes from Prithwiraj Purkayastha (from India) and is called "patishaptas". More taste can be added if you serve the patishapta with some cream or some sweet butter on it.
Shri Pal Garg, India: Golgappe/Panipuri
This snack comes from Shri Pal Garg, from India. It is called "Panipuri" or "Golgappe" and many Indians like it a lot. The name "Golgappa" refers to the fact that the sharp sphere ("gol") is placed in the mouth and is eaten without biting ("gappa"). This snack is not only delicious, but it's also fun to eat it.

The chefs of this snack is Zhang Rongrong. She is originally from Shanghai but now lives in the USA and works as a writer. Besides writing, she loves to invent new dishes. This is her latest creation: "Purple Yam Bread". The bread is made of flour, water, sour cream and filled with jam, butter and sugar. Finally garnished with toasted sesame-seeds.

Exeario Amesty-Soto from Caracas sent us his 4am breakfast: "Arepas". The arepa is a flat, round patty made of cornmeal which can be grilled or fried. It can be topped or filled with meat, eggs, tomatoes, salad, cheese, shrimp, or fish depending on the meal.

Adam Georg Schymik: „Ban Tiau“ from Phnom Penh
These pancakes from Cambodia are made of rice. They have a delicious filling of soybeans, pork and shrimps. In addition there is a "mountain" of fresh lettuce leaves and cucumber. One have to roll it into small rolls and dip it in a sweet peanut-sauce. The snack is served on a banana leaf.
